I so did not enjoy Vietnam. I know that because half the time I was there, I was dreaming of the cold weather, the shopping, and watching the Shanghai Masters in Shanghai. The other half of the time I was dreaming of going out with my friends, eating hokkien mee and playing with my dog. In Singapore.
Ten reasons why I did not enjoy my trip to Vietnam.
1) It took us one and a half hours to clear immigration there. DYOU KNOW HOW MANY SHOPS I COULD'VE GONE TO IN ONE AND A HALF HOURS?
2) The weather was so so so so hot.
3) We walked and walked and walked. It's okay if the weather was cold, or if walking was actually coupled with shopping, but no. I got so bad tempered and stuff but ANYONE would... right?
4) Cuchi tunnel was so damn hot. Crawl through a tunnel, they said!! Puh LEASE we spent 7/8 of the trip trekking through the damn jungle which was so hot and sticky and humid with so many insects about, and listening to the stupid tour guide (more about him later) tell us about stuff I wasn't really interested in.
5) When the trip was over (thank goodness) we asked the tour guide to drop us off at Diamond Plaza which is a shopping mall just opposite our hotel and it was on the way too. He refused to without giving any explanation. Lucky he got off before us and the bus driver dropped us off there.
6) I HATE the traffic there. They can just U turn anywhere they like and you have to be super careful when you cross the road cos even when the light is red, they go anyway. And they horn a lot. Even when there are no cars in front of them, they horn, and if there are cars, the drivers ignore it anyway. Argh!!
7) It is so dusty and the toilets are really gross. Not all of them, but well.. most of them.
8) The people are not really friendly. Granted, the hotel staff are very polite and nice but then of COURSE they have to be polite right? The airport people are the worst. As I was queueing up at immigration I stood next to my mum while we were in the same queue. Then the security guard came and grunted very angrily at me and made me line up behind her. Oh dear why didn't I think of that?? I should've known that by standing BESIDE my mom in the same queue would have confused the immigration officer so much that he'd go into spasms, foam at the mouth and pass out.
9) All the tours we went on were so disorganised. Really. We'd need to wait around for people and by the time we set off it'd be super late.
10) Shopping wasn't half as good as Bangkok.
There are also a few more reasons why I hated my trip so much but I shan't mention them here. To be fair, some parts of it were good: The ride on the canoe through the little winding river which branched off from Mekong river, my mom's office's D and D which was kinda fun, the super cheap pedicures and manicures (Omg only $3!!!! Shut up Jessie I know you did yours for $1.50), the beef noodles (I prob ate like 8 bowls while I was there).. but still I missed Shanghai so much while I was there! May and Elizabeth, we are SO going back there next year ok???
Anyway, today is like the first day of my holidays that I get to spend at home. So. First, I will go to the gym. Then, I shall watch some of the DVDs I got from Shanghai. Then, I will play tennis. And maybe discuss some money-spending schemes with the neighbours (ie: going to movies, shopping, and going to themeparks.)
I think I'm going out with hwee tomorrow, I can't wait! :) Oh no the dog's barking at the bird. Better go break up the conflict!! Byeee!
